Canada Dry Ginger Drink is a soda drink and one of the brand of soft drinks owned since 2008 by Keurig Dr Pepper, a US beverage company.
The Canada Dry Ginger ale is now available in bold, different citrus combinations, cranberry , Green Tea and diet ginger ale-citrus combinations.
The “Dry” in the brand’s name refers to not being sweet to taste and ale refers to its manner of top fermentation without addition of hops.
In the original set of “Canada Dry Pale Ginger Ale” soft drink, the taste was far less sweet when compared to other ginger ales of that period; as a result, so the creator labelled it “dry” to taste.

Despite the presence of the word ginger in its brand name which suggests the presence of ginger with its health benefits in the drink, the company itself admitted in a court case that “the labels do not promise that Canada Dry contains a certain amount of ‘real ginger,’ nor does Canada Dry purport to be a good source of ginger,” Keurig Dr Pepper told the court.Feb 19, 2019.
Furthermore, in that case, the consumer who acted as plaintiffs presented an expert analysis of the drink done for them by food scientists and the result proves that “The ginger content is so low, that it is ‘at best, at the minimum detectable taste threshold for humans and more likely is significantly below the taste threshold.’
However, Keurig Dr Pepper insists that there is at least some real ginger extract in the soda, despite the result of the analysis .According to the company, “Canada Dry Ginger Ale has and will continue to be made using real ginger extract,” .The company defended the drink by stating that its “ginger ale” contains too little actual ginger even to taste.

Even though the company argued that ginger is used to make the “natural flavoring” in the drink and contested the methodology of the lab test, it eventually settled out of court and agreed to pay $11.2 million to settle claims that it misled consumers. Also, it agreed to drop the words “Made from Real Ginger” from its labels.
